Central Virginia Special Olympics Athletes Compete At Woodberry

Woodberry Forest hosted 350 athletes and family members last weekend for the Central Virginia Special Olympics.
The regional event features six sports, including swimming, softball, and a variety of track and field events. Members of the Woodberry fourth form helped host the event by serving as timers, judges, and referees. Several of them also served lunch for the competitors and their families.

Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Residential Life Ryan Alexander coordinated the event, assisted by by a variety of Woodberry community members including Greg Guldin, Scott Navitsky, Mark O’Donnell, Becca LaVoie, David Budlong, John Amos, Daquan Daly, Chris Holmes, and Paul and Catherine Brazinski. Lunch was coordinated by Clyde and Tammy Firman along with Jim and Donna Robertson, Brenda Mills, and Shannon Rowe.

“I heard plenty of positive feedback from the athletes, their coaches and family, and the Special Olympics staff, that speaks to the thoughtfulness and service of this community” Ryan said.
