Commissioned as an ensign in the United States Navy in June, 1959. Served as a line officer and officer of the deck aboard the USS Forrestal (CVA-59). Reassigned to the commissioning crew of the USS Constellation (CVA-64) in 1961. Honorably discharged in June of 1962.
