An exceptional boarding school community for boys in grades nine through twelve.
Athletics at Woodberry Forest, in conjunction with academics and residential life, aim to support the mission of our school by providing students with training and competitive opportunities to deepen their understanding of who they are and who they aspire to become. I believe this goal is best accomplished in the competitive arena when students exhibit an attitude of growth and a willingness to push through personal hardship to improve physical conditioning and emotional strength. If they, as individuals, strive for their personal best in the classroom or on the playing field while supporting one another to do the same, they will be able to accomplish extraordinary things collectively and make life-changing memories together.

I earnestly welcome every boy to Woodberry. Each will come with varying beliefs about himself, his abilities, and his aspirations for his athletic experience. The vast opportunities we offer here will afford boys chances, not only to explore new athletic experiences, but to deepen passions and capabilities in those sports to which they are already committed. Ultimately, each boy will graduate with a truer understanding of himself and the bond of brotherhood that will be solidified, not just by one great win or one tragic loss, but by the uncountable small moments that make up his Woodberry experience.

I am committed to working and learning alongside our coaches to develop the whole boy as he matriculates through his years with us on the courts, fields, courses, and lanes. Tiger athletics is a tool that we will utilize, abundantly and with love, to develop in each boy not only sport-specific skills and a desire for competitive greatness, but also humility and confidence, personal grit, and a commitment to leadership and service.
