STEPS IN THE ADMISSIONS PROCESS

List of 7 items.

  • Application

You apply to Woodberry Forest School by completing the following documents and submitting them to us:

o Current-year SSAT and TOEFL scores, delivered to Woodberry by the testing organization directly. For rising 11th-grade applicants a PSAT or SAT can be   substituted for the SSAT. See the Testing section  below this section for additional information.
    o $50 application fee
o Counselor Recommendation (if your school has a counselor who can write about you)
o Official Transcript, which is sent directly from your current school, including your current year’s grades as well as all of your grades from the preceding two academic years
o Supplemental materials (such as CDs of artwork, photographs or awards/certificates) may be submitted, but are not required and cannot be returned. We do not encourage the submission of these items unless they directly support one of your specific attributes.
  • ESL

Woodberry Forest School does not offer ESL programming or support.  We do not have a “minimum” TOEFL score for admission, but you should be prepared to live and work in an environment where English is used within and outside the classroom.
  • Frequently Asked Questions

When do I need to submit everything in order to be considered for admission?

Woodberry reviews admissions applications in two rounds each year. Our first round ends on January 15. If you wish to be considered in the first round, ALL of your materials must be submitted by this date. If your file is not complete by January 15 you will be considered in our second round. The Admissions Committee reviews the files of our first-round applicants during February and posts its decisions on on March 10. If you're accepted to Woodberry during our first round of admissions, you'll have approximately one month to tell us whether you intend to enroll. Our Admissions Committee begins reviewing the files of second-round applicants around April 10. During the second round, we make decisions on a "rolling" basis, posting them immediately rather than on a specific date.

How do I find out my status/decision online?

When you apply to Woodberry online, you set up an account. You can return to this account to check on your admissions status. Click here to get started on your application.

Is financial aid available for International families?

International families may visit the Affording Woodberry page to complete a financial aid application. We offer a very limited amount of financial aid to international families.

    What hotels are nearby?

These hotels are close to the Woodberry campus but do not offer taxi service to the school. We recommend that you rent a car in order to travel between your hotel and the Woodberry campus. Click on the Planning Your Visit page for a list of nearby hotels.

When should I visit Woodberry Forest?

The best time to visit Woodberry Forest School is when our students are on campus and available to interact with you and your family! Please consult our school calendar to see if our students are on campus when you are considering visiting.  Please note that we do not allow overnight stays during exam week.

I am working with an educational consultant. Does Woodberry want to know this?

Absolutely! Woodberry has good relationships with many educational consultants. We welcome applications from students who work with these people and organizations. At the same time, it is certainly not necessary for a student to go through an educational consultant in order to apply successfully to the school. If you are working with an educational consultant, please include this information in your application or forward it directly to us.
