Students Bring Cuba to Woodberry in Photo Show

The landscapes and details of Cuba provide the subject matter for a photography show currently hanging in Woodberry Forest School’s Upper Walker Gallery. Created by students and faculty, the photos document two Woodberry trips to the island nation.

Caleb Rogers ’16 spent a month in Cuba during the summer of 2015 as a recipient of Woodberry’s Noland Summer Fellowship. And eight students, along with Spanish teachers Jairo Rivera and Jamison Monahan, participated in the inaugural Cuba Program during spring break this year.

Ranging from scenic landscapes and cityscapes to details of Havana’s daily life, the photographs depict a traditional Cuba verging on cultural change as it normalizes relations with the United States.
