Woodberry Forest Players to Stage Shakespeare

Woodberry Forest School will present Romeo and Juliet on October 30 - November 1, 2014. The cast of thirty, made up of both students and adults in the Woodberry community and beyond, has been selected, and rehearsals have begun.

Romeo and Juliet was staged at Woodberry Forest School nineteen years ago. "My Romeo from the first production, Raphael Sydnor ’97, currently a faculty member, is now playing a father of one of the lovers," says director Brent Cirves. "His wife, Sarah Sydnor, who is now our choreographer, first spied her Romeo from the audience, and now they are parents in real life." He also notes that the adult roles will be played by adults, and the teen roles will be played by teenagers, a rare occurence even in professional theater.
