Third Formers Test Selves on Ropes Course

For a few dozen third formers, September 14, 2014, meant a trek to the Woodberry Forest School's ropes course facility. The boys were grouped into teams and rotated among three stations. Team challenges helped them learn communication skills as they solved problems like getting their entire group across at tight wire or over a wall. They also took on individual challenges as they scaled the Carolina Climbing Wall and the Alpine Tower.

Woodberry's Ropes Course Instructors, who were selected and trained last spring, led the new boys in activities and made sure everyone was safe. Faculty on hand to support them were Tricia Tallman, a member of the outdoor education staff, and Nolan LaVoie, Woodberry's director of outdoor education and leadership development.
