Alumni Musicians Perform Together

Three Woodberry Forest alumni -- Bobby Houck ’83, Duke Merrick ’72, and Peyton Tochterman ’96 -- took the stage at the State Theatre in downtown Culpeper, Virginia, on July 24, 2014. The audience was peppered with members of the Woodberry Forest community, including alums John Gillespie ’85, Kav Gillespie ’14, Anna Grey Hogan ’14, and Jack Rhoades ’66. The guests enjoyed a pre-show barbecue dinner with band members in the beautifully renovated historic theatre.

The concert opened with an acoustic set by Peyton, followed by a full set by Bobby and his band the Blue Dogs. Duke, in spite of a recent copperhead bite to his left hand, joined the Blue Dogs to perform a few original and standard songs. The three closed the show together with a rendition of "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain."
