  • Schedule Your Interview

Admission candidates must participate in an interview either in-person or virtually. We encourage you to schedule an interview as soon as possible, especially if you’d like to come to campus.

Click here to schedule an in-person visit to campus.

    PLAN FOR YOUR INTERVIEW
This is a chance for the admission team to get
to know you better, and for you to ask questions
about the school. Just relax and be yourself.

    ITEMS TO BRING WITH YOU
We suggest that you wear a coat and tie for your interview. Classroom attire — a collared shirt, trousers, a belt, and socks — is necessary during academic hours and when entering the dining room. The school provides all necessary linens for an overnight visit, so there is no need to bring a sleeping bag or towel.
  • Reach Out to Your Son’s School

We require transcripts and recommendations from your son’s current school and teachers. We encourage you to reach out to them as soon as possible to ensure they have time to submit the required materials before any application deadlines. Further instruction can be found in our application page.
  • Apply for Tuition Assistance

Tuition assistance at Woodberry Forest is need-based, and every family is encouraged to apply. To read more about our approach to tuition assistance, required materials, and important dates and deadlines, view our tuition assistance page.

  • Decide How You'll Fulfill Our Testing Requirement

Woodberry Forest remains test-optional. Woodberry is committed to a holistic review of each student’s application to the boarding school.  Therefore, we will request additional information from applicants who choose not to submit a standardized test score.  The additional information will include a recently graded writing assignment and math assessment.  These additional pieces will ensure our ability to get to know each student and his potential as best we can.

Applicants may still choose to submit scores from any of the following tests: the ISEE, SSAT, PSAT, SAT, PreACT, or ACT.

Applicants for whom English is not their primary language are required to submit a standardized English proficiency assessment.  Woodberry currently accepts scores for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), Duolingo English Test (DET), and the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
